后门 Back Door



1951 年8月- 16个月，我的嗜好是看书！

August 1951 – 16 months old, my hobby is reading !

从后门出去，沿着道路往前走，过一条好宽的马路就看到‘大华’戏院了！我们很少去看戏，因为映的都是粤语片。晚上，华灯初上，大华戏院门前的小食档口开始营业，有著名的‘河嘻’- 清汤沙河粉内放鱼旦鱼片与如云吞皮似的硬硬的‘鱼翘’，撒上红辣椒与生菜，坐满食客。还有‘碌碌’，一种串起来放进滚水内弄熟的海鲜，醮上辣酱与甜酱来吃，卖腌渍各种水果如芒果，木瓜，橄榄，姜片等等的档口都吸引着我们， 但妈妈不允许我们吃，说不太卫生。我最喜爱的一档是卖卤豆腐干，小小片的甜肉干与如麻绳般的肉丝，还有鸭脚包与肉干包着肥肉的东西，忘了叫什么？有谁知道可告诉我。原来是叫‘金钱肉’，好有意头的名字！

Exit from our back door, as we walked along the side road, came to a very wide road, opposite was the 'Majestic' cinema! We rarely go to the theater, as it showed mostly Cantonese movie. When the evening came, all the food stalls in front of ‘Majestic’ opened for business, there was the famous 'Hohee' – Kueh Teow soup with fish ball, fish slices and wanton skin alike ‘Heegiao’, sprinkled with red chili and lettuce, tables filled with diners. There was a 'Look Look' stall, strings of different type of seafood Satay-like cooked in the boiling water, dipped in chili or sweet sauce to eat, a stall selling variety of pickled fruits such as mango, papaya, olives, ginger, and so on attracted us, but mamma usually didn’t allow us to eat, saying unhygienic. My favorite was a stall selling halogen tofu, sweet little pieces of dried meat and with rope-like texture meat floss, as well as duck-feet-wrap, I have forgotten the name of this thing : a piece of fat meat wrapped inside the dried meat, Please tell me if you know the name of that food. I found out that it was called ‘golden money meat’, what a funny name!
